Felicia’s Thoughts: “Feel Good, Girl!” was born after years of receiving media messages geared toward pre-teens. As the mother of a daughter, Felicia especially noticed the messages being sent to girls and women: Be pretty.
Dress nice. Shop a lot. Smell good. And of course, impress boys.
Feel Good, Girl! is my attempt to get our younger girls (ages 8-14) to:
• Take a deeper more citical look at the messages being thrown at them • Understand that their emotions and feelings are VALID and have real power • Realize that they can do anything that they set their minds to • Let them know that THEY have the power to make changes in themselves & the world around them. It's really a book of advice that I kind of wish someone had told me when I was growing up! The content is real, but it's done in a fun and down to earth way that a 8 or 9 year old girl can relate to. I'm so excited about it!
